Album Info:The Great Western Railway operates trackage in Northern Colorado. Tracks radiate out of Windsor to Ft. Collins, Greeley and Loveland-Johnstown-Longmont. The Fort Collins-Greeley line was part of the Colorado & Southern and was purchased from the BN in 1996. In 1999, the GWR took over switching operations in Ft. Collins from the BNSF. 2010 was a pivotal year for the GWR. The Great Western Industial Park in Windsor was coming on line with several major customers constructing new facilities: Owens-Illinois, Front Range Energy Ethanol, Vestas Blades and others. Almost overnight, the GWR was handling long trains over the light 90 lbs rail. Locomotives from BNSF, UP, NS, CSX and others could be found pulling windmill blade, ethanol, grain and oil trains. During some weeks, the GWR could handle over 700 cars!!
