Description:  Exiting the west end of the tunnel at East Dubuque. The Chicago & Great Western used these tracks also: the CGW had trackage rights on the IC from Portage to Dubuque Jct until it was absorbed by the C&NW in 1968. In addition, the CB&Q had trackage rights over the Mississippi River bridge to reach their freight house and waterfront spur in Dubuque

Description:  One of UP-2s units failed at Council Hill and the train stalled. CC-1 was in the siding at Scales Mound and tied their train down and ran light engines to Council Hill to help UP-2 up the hill. UP-2 went to Apple River and CC-1s units cut off, returned to Scales Mound, got their train and continued their westward trip.

Title:  IC 3037
Description:  At East Dubuque, the Iowa division Passed East Cabin, went through a curved 835' tunnel, crossed the BN double track Twin Cities mainline and then crossed the 1750 foot bridge over the Mississippi River...all in about a mile! The 13 miles between East Dubuque and Portage was owned by the ICG with the BN having trackage rights. BN purchased the westbound mainline in 1992, East Cabin was closed in 1994 and control transferred to the BN dispatching center in Ft. Worth, TX.
